The only night practice session of the weekend has now ended and it provided some stunning shots of the cars under the lights.
Now onto the results, it was Max Verstappen on top yet again as he is looking absolutely unstoppable heading into tomorrow. In second just less than one tenth behind him was the McLaren driver Lando Norris. The team from Woking looking like they are improving more and more as their new Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo finished the session in sixth.
The start of FP2 was very shaky for many drivers as they got used to the drop in track temperatures. We saw both Nikita Mazepin and Lando Norris cutting the track at Turn 7 as they both had stability issues. We also saw the first man to hit the wall this season. Kimi Räikkönen lost control of his C41 while going through T2 and T3. The Iceman only picking up front wing damage, which left the Alfa Romeo mechanics relieved, as it would have been a long night for them.
Mercedes are not living up to the standards that they set themselves in the Hybrid era. With the drivers finishing in third and in fifth with Carlos Sainz separating them. The silver arrows will be definitely trying to go faster on Saturday if they are hungry for an eighth consecutive Constructors' Championship.
A driver who has been struggling so far this weekend is Verstappen's new teammate, Sergio Perez. The Mexican finished in tenth place, six and a half tenths behind Max. What looked like a promising move for Checo, especially after his maiden win at the Sahkir Grand Prix, might have been just a curse.
With the first day of practice at the Bahrain Grand Prix over. Just one more session awaits the drivers before they will have to give their absolute most, to see who will win.
