The Friday sessions have now come to a halt and in the second session, it was Valtteri Bottas who went quickest, yet again! The Finn looking very good going into tomorrow's practice and qualifying sessions. But the man right beside him in the pit box, Lewis Hamilton is keeping Bottas on his toes, coming very close to snatching the fastest time of the day away from him.
Another driver who has been doing very well so far this weekend is the french man, Pierre Gasly in his Alpha Tauri. He finished just behind the Silver Arrows, less than a tenth from first position. While his rookie teammate Yuki Tsunoda, finished in seventh, just shy of Checo's Red Bull.
Ferrari also looked good at their home Grand Prix with a fourth and fifth finish for the prancing horses. Although Charles Leclerc did put his Ferrari in the wall after a snap oversteer caught the Monacasue sleeping at the end of his lap. Sainz was faster of the two drivers by nearly six tenths of a second. Proving to the team that he did not just join Ferrari to play second fiddle to the teams star driver.
Red Bull Racing were praying for a turn of fortunes after Perez's clash with Ocon in the first practice session, but this did not happen. 10 minutes into FP2, Max Verstappen's car stopped on track. Max was only able to complete 5 laps in that space of time which puts Red Bull on the back foot compared to rivals, Mercedes.
More bad luck for Red Bull Racing, great drives from the Alpha Tauri's and Mercedes finishing 1-2 for the second time in a row, we are going to find out the true pace of these cars, tomorrow.
