A Ferrari with Green, what happened to Normal liveries? - Opinion

Ferrari have finally revealed their livery. After a forgettable 'team launch' and much talk of the future, they've certainly caught a lot of peoples attention with this one...

Lets deal with the elephant in the room. Its got Green on it, and it looks horrific.

After looking into Mission Winnows website (The Sponsor which is green) it's seemingly because of an environmental plan for the brand, who formerly were a tobacco company, as they now change into a company that sells electronics and they want the world to see them as a company that cares about the planet instead of destroying it. So in F1 terms, that is why its green. Its for environmental reasons, which is good. However they have absolutely butchered an otherwise pretty decent livery for Ferrari. Obviously I am joking when I say that but in design terms, it really is bad. Elsewhere on the car, there's a gradient from red to burgundy at the rear paying homage to the first ever Ferrari livery just like the color used in the Tuscan Grand Prix last season. The driver numbers look like an actual paint brush has painted them on, but in fairness, its another neat touch looking back to the early days.

Now, about the actual important part of the car. The aerodynamics. There's a significant change to the front wing which is way more curved and sculpted compared to last seasons blocky look. Personally I think this is a great decision from them, it looks similar to the the Alpha Tauri front nose who have used most of their tokens for that part of the car. Time will tell but personally I think Ferrari have made a great choice to move away from last seasons concept. There is also small winglets added to the top of the front nose which was completely not on the car last season. I am no aero dynamists so I should probably stop at that but from first glance from my eyes, I'm impressed.

The question is, will it be as fast as it looks on track? This for me will come all down to the engine, will there be any improvement and will there be enough? Bahrain should provide a perfect idea of if the car has been fixed and if Ferrari can return to winning ways. If it back fires, this could be the darkest of hours for the Scuderia. They need this car to finish top 3 in the constructors. They arguably have the best lineup on the grid with young Charles Leclerc who is a World Champion in the making and Carlos Sainz in the absolute prime of his career and will push Charles all the way. This lineup will NOT remain if this car is not good enough, it will be the ultimate waste of talent and money when this team should be fighting Mercedes for the title. Can they challenge Mercedes this season? Most likely no. However if they can return to 2019 levels, win a few races, this will be a major turn around and will open another fresh new tin of worms of what on earth happened last season, I'll save that discussion for another article....
